Feeding the Homeless

Homeless

During my first semester at UVSC in Orem Utah I got a phone call from my brother Austin.

"Hey do you want to go with me tonight to a service project and feed the homeless?" He asked. "SURE!" I said. "Okay I'll pick you up at 6pm. Wear a nice pair of black pants and white shirt" "Okay!"

I remember thinking why would the homeless care what I wore? But I got ready and he picked me up at 6pm. So then we pulled into UVSC's parking lot... and I thought "oh I guess the college is doing a service for homeless people here" We walked in and the gym was set up for a major dinner. Ice sculptures everywhere, 100 tables with linens, and a band was setting up. I looked over at Austin with a big question mark on my face!

Thats when he admitted... it wasn't a homeless dinner... but an alumni dinner for UVSC and he being in DECA needed to find people to help serve. Thats where I came in. I had a great time actually and wasn't at all mad for being tricked.

Look for an upcoming post all about Me, My brother, and A Homeless Hitchhiker!

Snack Time

Sally my mother in law called the other day...
Sally: Hi what are you up to today?

Me: Oh just watching Jenna and Kate.

Sally: That sounds fun

Me:I'm just giving them some oreo's for a snack.

Sally: Hmmmm.... that sounds good?

We now have a 10 minute coversation on different things and say goodbye and hangup.

I then realize that I said the word oreo instead of the word cheerio.

Choose the Right

Some funny Dallen qoutes

"Mom if you spank my butt you are not choosing the right"

"When you grow old you die" Said to old lady in the supermarket right next to us.

(2 days later he said to Grandpa Kendrick "Your mustache is getting old....pause... When you grow old you die")

"Yo! Yo! Sugar Momma"

To let everyone know I do not spank my children. I know your probably thinking "Yah Right! Than why would Dallen say that?" I don't know why he said it but I just hope he doesn't repeat it in front of others :)

Some funny Kate qoutes

"ahgadlkouoosh"

"fluosohmaaaaa"

"goouefferry"

thats probably not as funny as I think it is

Claire and Kenleigh

Here's some pictures of my new neices. We have had 3 baby girls born in our family in the past 4 months. Chad's sister had a baby girl in October but we're not for sure if she exists or if they are making it all up for attention. We (not just Chad and I... I mean the whole family) have never seen a picture of baby "Katie" My sister Stephanie had her baby girl also in October, Kenleigh. My brother Austin and my sisinlaw Lela had a baby girl this past Wednesday and they named her Claire. I am now going to refer to her as Claire Bear. It kills me to think the next time I get to be with them Kenleigh will be 9 months old and Claire will be 5 months old. I miss you guys!

Mom Mode

Poor little Dallen was sick today. Thank goodness the spirit prompted Tamarama to come over to pick up Kate this morning. 5 minutes after getting here, 3 minutes into deep conversation about Ekhart Tolle's new book I got a phone call from Dallen's school that he had a temp of 103. If Tamarama wasn't there Chad would have had to take the rest of the day off and drive 45 minutes to get Dallen. So we zipped off to get Dallen. I walked in and saw Dallen laying on a little cot shivering like there was no tomorrow. Now if that image doesn't make your eyes well up with tears you may need therapy. I scooped him up in my arms (Oh my gosh I forget that he's 5!) and struggled to the door. By the way I know it looks weird to hold a 5 year old like a baby, but I swear if I got one more weird look I would have punched someone in the face.

After taking Dallen to the Dr's to get checked out and the Dr swabbed for strep. "He attacked my throat mom" :) We went off to Target to get his prescription. Since we had to wait 20 minutes for the meds I thought it would be fun for Dallen to look at the Transformers. As we made our way down a toy aisle Dallen said "Mom I feel sick" and started throwing up. My mom instinct immediatly responded by catching it in my hands. Another lady down the aisle went into mom mode and whipped out a handkerchief which he then threw up into, at the same time another lady who came from no where pulled wipes from her purse and gave them to us and then went to flag a target crew member down. Man was I grateful. The mess was kept to a minumin and after a trip to the bathroom we were as good as new.

Thanks ladies!

Boo Hoo Hoo

Yesterday while doing the dishes Far Away by Nickleback came on the radio. I love this song but at the same time it makes me so sad. I just stood there and cried for like 5 minutes. So am I a freak or is anyone else there like this? I want to know what song can totally make you cry, tear up, or even get a little "emotional"? Even if your a dude you still have to answer.

27 Dresses

Last night we dropped off the kids at Tamara and Alan's and went to a movie. We stopped off at Arby's and got some "take out" and snuck it in with us. I ordered a kids meal with a fruit cup and I came to the realization that I will never order a meal combo again. Kids meals are really filling and like 1/2 price with a toy.

We went and saw 27 Dresses. The first 1/2 the movie I had the biggest scowl on my face. I liked it but at the same time I didn't. I don't know why because it was really cute. But I do officially have a new celebrity crush. James Marsden. :) Remember that episode from Friends where they made a 3x5 card of celebrities they were "allowed" to date? Well my 3x5 card would have

1. Justin Timberlake
2. James Marsden
3. Joaquin Phoenix

Chad's

1. Catherine Zeta Jones
2. Charlize Theron
3. Any Anime Girl/Elf Princess

Dallen

Dallen loves to play Transformers together as a family. Dallen is Bumblebee, Chad is Optimus Prime, Kate is "Little Bumblebee" and I am Ratchet. We all go around on our hands and knees when we are cars and then Dallen will shout out "Transform" or "Roll Out" and we all then Transform into standing posistions. Because I am Ratchet I get to fix anyone who has been damaged in an attack and also Dallen loves for me to attach boosters to his back.

Last night when I put him to bed I said "I love you Bumblebee" and Dallen answered "I love you too Ratchet" It just made my heart melt.
