today is just one of those days where I want to flip off the world and yell "bite me" as loud as I can.
and its all due to the fact that I dyed my hair this morning
and now I look like this....
it didn't help that I also dyed my eyebrows and they look like two black mustaches above each eye!
I'm going to try wearing my glasses today to church to cover up my eyebrows. hopefully it works.

oh no! post pics so we can judge for ourselves. Maybe it's not as bad as you think!!!! I've often found I'm far more critical of myself than others are when I've done something different.
Hair dye is serious business. You mess with the bull you'll get the horns.
Shellie's is a cautionary tale. The rest of you should consider yourselves warned.
I am going to have to go with Leah on this one. We need some pictures!!
Sorry Shellie... I understand where you're coming from. I'd never fully colored my hair until I came back home from my mission. I was working as a hairdresser and I went to a coworker after work and asked him to put some reddish blonde streaks in my hair to hide the grey. I decided to leave work with a conditioning treatment in my hair and put a plastic shower cap on my head to condition overnight. I didn't know what it looked like until the next day. I woke up the next day (Sunday) and dried my hair... the streaks were FUSCHIA! I was SO MAD!!! I didn't have any products at home to fix the bright reddish pink in my hair and I had to go to church to teach my primary class. I think I taught my class and went home, I didn't want anybody to see me like that.. I felt embarrassed because I had crazy, ugly hair and I was a hairdresser! I went to work early Monday morning before everyone else got there and used decolorizer to get the fuschia out, then I re-highlighted my hair. I've never let anyone choose the color they were going to put in my hair since, I always mix my own. I understand feeling uncomfortable because your hair color is wrong. I'd fix your hair for you if you lived closer, I have lots of experience fixing hair color disasters. But if your hair color is only a few shades too dark, you can always try to wash it with dish washing detergent... it will strip some of the color out, but you need to condition it like crazy if you do something like that because it will dry, dry, dry your hair out. The only decolorizer I've found to work when you need more than a couple of shades out can only be bought by hairdressers at a beauty supply because it can be "wicked" on your hair. It has been really hot here and I was outside all day yesterday, when I looked in the mirror this morning, my hair is lighter... your hair will lighten up if you spend enough time outside... that is if you can wait for it to fade. Good luck.
You can always call a hairdresser in the morning and see what they can do for you, tell them you want your hair lightened, not stripped out with bleach. I use PRAVANA's Hair color extractor, it removes only artificial hair color and leaves your natural hair color intact... plus it is gentle on your hair and won't completely dry it out. You can recolor your hair the color you want the same day. I know other brands make similar products that are safer than bleach that are similar to PRAVANA. Hope that helps.
Okay I'll take pictures tomorrow.
I was reassured by my friend Kate that it looked good.
I'll let you guys decide tomorrow.
If not I'll be wearing a lot of hats for the next couple of weeks.
Angela thanks for the recommandation and if I don't feel like its going to get better with time I'll make an appt asap.
i can't wait to see pictures :)
i did that once...my hair was so black it was blue-ish! not good on me....i bet it's not as bad as you think :)
okay what will help it fade super fast...generic shampoo. purt plus works great for this. your eyebrows will fade a little faster, but the more you wash your hair the more color should come out. Don't let anyone talk you into stripping it. Your hair will fry! But, if you try the shampoo it should work. We use to have this prob in beauty school belive it ot not!:) Who trusts there hair to a teenager ...really!
Oh no Shell that sucks! I so wanna see pictures though! :)
Okay guys, Shellie's hair and eyebrows looked really good. I was expecting it to look like mine when I dyed mine dark...I looked like a vampire. But, Shellie, you looked good. I'm sure the bronzer helped, but when I saw you all dressed up for church you looked good. If it doesn't look as good tonight at kickboxing, I'll tell ya.
I have to see your hair, you must take a picture! I love the office! Your story of a horse breaks my heart! I have always loved horses, and would love to get one for my girls. They already talk about wanting one, and every other farm animal also.
I agree with Kate. I thought it was beautiful. I knew there was something different yesterday, I just couldn't pin it. You just looked good (not that you don't always, but a different good). But that tells you that it wasn't bad because then I would have definitely noticed what it was and made a comment (he!he!).
Sorry....I didn't see you at church yesterday but I am going to believe Kate and Rachel I bet you look great!!! But, I still would like to see some pictures too :)
By the way you can totally stop missing me now because we are back from VACA!!!
btw-I love your clip of the office. Totally cool.
Once I bleached my hair blonde and left my eyebrows black...I felt like BURT from Sesame Street!
I'm sorry about your hair! I bet it looks lovely though!
Oh and thanks for guest bloggin!
I died my hair dark brown for some reason in December of '03. I thought i looked gothic, but Brandon said he liked it.... then we got engaged April of 04 and so i thought i better get working on making my hair my natural color. I used one of those take home hair color strippers and it turned it orange..like carrots (i'm not kidding) it took me 3 times at the salon to get it looking like marriage material. So...moral of the story, dark brown looks better than orange. I agree with the other girls-just wash it a lot and sit out in the sun for a while. Or let the salon lady do it right from the start!
